In part one of this two-part blog series, we went over some of the basics on how window tint serves as a excellent addition to vehicle security against burglaries and similar car crimes. Most burglars are at least somewhat selective and will target empty vehicles – meaning those that do not have tint, allowing them to see inside and gauge what valuables are there, plus whether anyone is inside. There are always a few duller pencils among the bunch, however, and some less intelligent burglars may even try to break into your car while you’re in it.
In such an unfortunate circumstance, one of the most dangerous aspects is broken glass injuring you. But with tinted windows, you have a ceramic coating on the inside of windows that will reinforce the window, supporting it and making the glass harder to break. Even if the glass does break, it won’t shatter into as many pieces and won’t spread as far.

In fact, modern alarm systems generally contain a variety of different sensors for protection. Ensure you ask about any of these if you’re unsure whether they’re part of an alarm system you’re looking to install:
- Glass break sensors: Detecting the sound of shattering glass, and also generally detecting tampering or impact to the glass that doesn’t break it.
- Pressure sensors: Detecting changes to air pressure within the vehicle, such as if a window is broken or doors are forced open without being unlocked.
- Shock sensors: Noting impact on any part of the car’s body, including the intensity of the impact.
- Motion sensors: Allowing for motion detection inside the vehicle, alerting owners immediately to burglaries or similar crimes while the vehicle is locked.
